Scene’s live thoughts and reactions to the 2026 Oscars
I am tired. I am dealing with Jonathan Ross. None of the jokes are landing. But, we have had some great winners. Here are my live reactions as it is going on. If there is mistakes, I do apologise. But allow me, it;s very late and i’m trying my best.
Best Supporting Actress
Prediction: Amy Madigan (Weapons)
Winner: Amy Madigan (Weapons)
Oh my god she has actually done it. Amy Madigan has won best actress. She avenges all the past horror snubs. I would have loved anyone in this category to win but this is a fun win. I love it. This is a great start.

Best Animated Feature
Prediction: Kpop Demon Hunters
Winner: Kpop Demon Hunters
Yeah, this isn’t surprising. It’s a great win though, it’s a fun film with some great music. A really nice speech as well.

Best Costume Design
Prediction: Frankenstein
Winner: Frankenstein
I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I am three for three right now. Maybe I am the film oracle?
Best Makeup and Hairstyling
Prediction: Frankenstein
Winner: Frankenstein
The Frankenstein sweep is in full swing. They are definitely going to go three for three. I do think Sinners may be better, but you can’t deny how impressive Jacob Elordi looks.

Best Casting
Prediction: Sinners
Winner: One Battle After Another
You know what, I was so cocky that I always started writing about Sinners winning. Clearly, not as smart as I think I am. One Battle After Another is a great win for this, but man, broke my streak.

Best Supporting Actor
Prediction: Sean Penn (One Battle After Another)
Winner: Sean Penn (One Battle After Another)
Sean Penn’s commitment to giving great performances, getting nominated, winning and continuing to not care about it is becoming a great bit. It is a fantastic performance, despite any feelings towards Penn.

Best Adapted Screenplay
Prediction: One Battle After Another
Winner: One Battle After Another
It’s great to see Paul Thomas Anderson win here. He deserves it. No one is surprised that One Battle After Another has won, but man his speech was fantastic.

Best Original Screenplay
Prediction: Sinners
Winner: Sinners
Yeahhhhhhhh. Ryan Coogler for the win. I’m so happy for him. He’s my favorite director so seeing him get so much love is amazing. He got a massive cheer as well, maybe he may win director?

Best Production Design
Prediction: Frankenstein
Winner: Frankenstein
The Frankenstein sweep is complete. Don’t get me wrong, I thought it was a fantastic film. But it does feel crazy it has three nominations. I feel like this could have gone to someone else.

Best Visual Effects
Prediction: Avatar: Fire and Ash
Winner: Avatar: Fire and Ash
Woah! What a shock. I can’t believe Avatar: Fire and Ash won. It’s a true underdog story. What a shake up. I thought it Jessie Buckley didn’t win would be the biggest possible surprise, but Avatar winning takes it.
Prediction: 9/10
Best Original Score

Winner: Sinners
Ludwig Goransson is just the goat. What a deserved win. There are some truly great scores nominated, but I would have been mad if Sinners hadn’t won this. I haven’t stopped listening to it since I watched the film.

Best Sound

Winner: F1
Look. F1’s sound is great. If it was going to win any Oscar, it was this. But come on, Sirāt was right there. It would have been such a fun and interesting win if they gave it to Sirāt instead.

Best Film Editing

Winner: One Battle After Another
Damn, I should have played it safe. I think if it goes on to win cinematography, we can confirm that One Battle After Another is definitely winning best picture and director.

Best Cinematography

We have a fight boys and girls, we have a fight on our hands. Every time I think One Battle After Another is going to run away with it, Sinners claws back. I wanted Train Dreams, but this is a great win. There are so many shots in this film I haven’t been able to stop thinking about. Autumn Durald Arkapaw being the first woman to win for cinematography was a brilliant moment. What a beautiful speech. My predictions are taking a big hit though, I was doing so well.

Best International Feature

Winner: Sentimental Value
Firstly, a round of applause for Javier Bardem’s speech. Secondly, I’m glad Sentimental Value got a win. I absolutely loved it and I needed it to get some recognition somewhere. I needed recognition or the tears I shed that day.

Winner: Golden (Kpop Demon Hunters)
Diane Warren’s yearly humiliation ritual has come. She may be the most graceful loser I’ve ever seen. I would have been on my Will Smith stuff ages ago. I Lied to You is the better song. Funnily enough, both songs nominated are not even the best song in their respective films.

Best Director
Prediction: Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another)
Winner: Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another)
I may be a Sinners defender, but Ryan Coogler’s time will come. Paul Thomas Anderson has been long overdue one, and One Battle After Another is a worthy win. This is no pity award, this is deserved.
Prediction: 14/17
Best Actor
Prediction: Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme)
Winner: Michael B. Jordan
Academy Award winner Michael B. fucking Jordan. That’s what I love to see. He, alongside Ryan Gosling, is my favourite actor so I could not be happier. Let’s not be weird and start pretending his performance is terrible. It’s not. It’s fantastic.

I know we all saw it coming, but I love Jessie Buckley so I am very happy for her. As much as I believe Rose Byrne was better, this is a fantastic win.

Best Picture
Prediction: One Battle After Another
Winner: One Battle After Another
I would have loved if it was Sinners — hope you haven’t been taking a shot every time I’ve said ‘I would have loved’ because you would be plastered — but One Battle After Another is undeniable. A great ending to a mixed bag of a show.
